Iggy's moving in!

This quiet little lady remained quiet and unobtrusive for months at APS of Durham. She was sweet and patient while watching many cats and kittens find their perfect families, while she was left behind.

Well, that all changed the moment she had rooms to explore and a hallway to run in! She is as sweet as we always knew, but quiet and patient no more! She instantly set herself to exploring with my cat, Jojo, tagging along. Then they chased and played having a great time. Once she had her bearings and got to know Jojo she was ready for snuggle time and quite demanding about it!

During Iggy’s first night with me she proved to be very affectionate with a loud motor-boat purr heard across the room. She will jump in your lap at a moment’s notice and nudge her head under your hand for head and cheek scratches. The follows me around, circling my ankles and just loving being able to run around!

Iggy is a loving little princess who is determined to acquire cuddles and rule your heart.

Little Miss Zure moved in on the 16th and it has been so much fun getting to know her! She is spunky, out going and she loves to play! She and Jojo get along great and I know she'll be happy if she's adopted into a home with another playful cat. She really learned her way around quickly and has been very well behaved. She is very independent, is good at figureing things out and will make a perfect second cat for any family. Cats most often do best in pairs, so remember that APS gives you a discount on your second cat, so you can always adopt two!

She’s tiny compared to my 15 pound Jojo (at a year old, she’s only 7 pounds!), but she doesn’t know it! She loves to play and wrestle and when she tuckers herself out, she’ll jump up on the couch with you for a little catnap. She can also be a little chatterbox and will keep you entertained as she searches around your home looking for something new to explore!

Zure is an independent little girl who uses her scratching post and never disrupts the furniture, found her litter box as soon as she moved in, is mindful when you tell her no and is overall just a great kitty!

BEAN HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!!!

Bright Eyed Bean

At first glance, Bean seems like an ordinary, run-of-the-mill, brown tabby cat. But then, he looks at you with those amazing amber/gold eyes with beautiful flecks of blue and he twitches his satellite-like ears towards you and your heart jumps towards him. Bean is no ordinary cat. (I haven't been able to get a picture to quite capture how amazing his eyes appear in person.)

Last night, while I was laying on the couch watching re-runs, Bean hops up on the couch and curls up at my feet. Minutes later, he crawls up to lay beside me, then later jumps up to the top of the couch to lay above my head. Finally, he ends up laying on his back in the crook of my arm, head lolled back on my shoulder and purring in my hear. This boy is drawn to human affection like a magnet...after he tuckers himself out!

Earlier that evening you could find him stalking, pouncing and playing chase games with my cat, Jojo. After he wore Jojo out, he played with his toys, followed me happily around my apartment, twining around my feet, jumping in and out of my lap while at the computer and taking brief breaks in his play to rest on top of my desk chair above my head.

Of course, this morning he hopped in bed with me to nuzzle my nose and play with my hair to remind me it was time for breakfast!

The more I get to know Bean, the more I love him. He really is an amazing cat! He's the best of both playful and cuddly worlds and is a completely comfortable, well adjusted little boy. Last Saturday I took him to a cat adoption event at Petsmart at Northpoint and , while everything there was new to him, he did really well. He got just a little bit nervous as he met lots of people, cats and a few dogs, but after letting him run around a play pen for awhile with a few new buddies, he settled down in my lap and even slept for a bit. I was really proud of him. :-)

Bean will do really well in a home with another playful cat, so if you already have a cat and are looking for a new friend or you would like to adopt two cats, Bean is definitely a cat you want to consider. Entertainment with a Purr!

One word to describe Bean? FUN! He runs and plays like nobody's business and he'd love for you to play with him! He loves interactive toys, chasing a laser light or just batting around a balled up piece of paper.

Bean is also completely content to lay on the couch with you, rest his head on your shoulder and purr in your ear. He loves scratches between his ears and under his chin and will let you know with a loud purr and sometimes a meow.

He's a very inquisitive kitty and has some of the greatest expressions I've seen. He gets along well with my cat, Jojo and really showed how flexible he his by making himself right at home in less than an hour.

I think Bean would be a perfect addition to any home. He'll be happy any place where there's someone to love him.

Bean is a great kitty! Every time I've gone to visit him, he circles around my feet and he loves to be loved on.

Here's what an APS volunteer wrote about him:
BEAN is a friendly, but not overbearing, tabby. This gorgeous cat has piercing golden-red eyes and huge, wild-looking ears. He has a wonderful symmetry running across his face, all the way down to a line along the middle of his nose.

I can't wait to get him home and get to know more about him. I already know that he's a healthy boy who is friendly and outgoing and he gets along well with other cats and children.

So often tabby cats are overlooked because people think that their 'ordinary' so Bean has been at APS since October. Beans works so hard to prove that he's anything but ordinary and if you give him the chance he'll play, wiggle and snuggle his way into your heart!

Well, Juji had a pretty disappointing week this week. Earlier this month someone came and put a deposit down for her and she thought she'd finally found a home of her very own. Her new mom was supposed to come pick her up Tuesday, but asked for the day to be changed to Thursday. Then she asked to come Friday, and finally she emailed today to say that she wouldn't be able to give Juji a permanent home.

So Juji is still waiting for her forever family. And that's okay. She wants to go home with someone who's ready for a new furry friend. If you think Juji might be the perfect addition to your family, please let me know. I'd love for you to be able to come meet her, and I know she'd be thrilled to meet you! :)

Juji is so sweet and it’s been wonderful to have her with me these past few months, but I know she can’t wait to have a home of her very own. I’ve been working to let people know about her by putting ads on mync.com, craigslist and updating her webpage, but for some reason, no one seems to be interested in this pretty, dainty, calico girl!

Juji is entertaining and playful. She also has cuddly moods when she is very insistent on getting loving attention. She loves to have her picture taken too – just look at all her smiles!

She has lots and lots of energy and can entertain herself happily with a bottle cap or interactive toy. She loves playing and wrestling with Jojo and will chase small balls I throw for her. Her favorite toy is a laser light and its endlessly entertaining to watch her play.

When Juji tires herself out she is sleepy and cuddly. She’ll roll over for a belly rub or jump in your lap, kneed you, or burrow in blankets near you. She’ll remind you to pet her by nudging your hand – even if you’re already petting her with your other hand!

Juji is a spayed, female, calico cat who is about 1 ½ years old. She was adopted from the Animal Protection Society of Durham (APS) into a household with another cat. Unfortunately the cat the family already had could not learn to accept a new addition.

In late September Juji was returned to APS and on October 2^nd she came to stay with me until she finds her forever home.

Juji’s first adopters said she was,

“incredibly affectionate and sweet. She’s also really playful.”

Juji received an examination before I brought her home. Per that report is a very healthy cat. She weighs 8lbs. 3.5oz. She is micro-chipped, is negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV and negative for worms. She is up-to-date on her vaccinations, including rabies.

Juji is a little skittish when put into new situations and it took her about a week and a half to really settle into my apartment and learn to play with my cat, Jojo. In all fairness, Jojo is a boy who’s about twice her size and is very rambunctious. She doesn’t love to travel, but she’s still nice about it. She’s always very happy to get back to an environment she’s familiar with.

She has lots and lots of energy and can entertain herself happily with a bottle cap or interactive toy. She loves playing and wrestling with Jojo and will chase small balls I throw for her. Her favorite toy is a laser light and its endlessly entertaining to watch her play.

Juji has been with me for a month now and she has been the most amazing cat to get to know. She is absolutely FULL of personality and she loves to play. She chases balls, strings and even feet if she's in a really perky mood! Her favorite toy is a laser light. She will run where ever that light goes and she gets sooo excited about it. If you're looking for a new buddy who will entertain you, Juji is the cat for you!

She's such a pretty little girl with the cutest pink nose and she's incredibly sweet. When she tires herself out, she gets sleepy and cuddly and will jump up in your lap and relax. She loves to be scratched on the top of her forehead. Everyday when I come home from work she meets me at the door. She so excited her whole body is shaking!

Juji has 'heaps of love' to give an she would be so happy to have a home of her very own. She loves people and other cats. Juji would be the perfect cat for almost any household.

Juji should be coming home with me today! I'll be fostering her until she finds her perfect forever home.

The name Juji means ‘Heaps of Love,’ and this bundle of sweetness couldn’t have a name that fit her more! She loves to nuzzle and have the top of her head scratched and she loves attention! Juji is curious and enjoys exploring.

I'll let you know more about her once she moves in and I get to know more about her. :)

ROSIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Little Miss Rosie is moving in this week! Maybe even today!

ROSIE: No photograph could ever do justice to the amazing spirit and soul of this little black bundle of love. Many times black kittens and cats are overlooked or assumed to be all alike. Five minutes with Rosie would dispel that misconception forever. When I first met Rosie she was curled up in the back of the cage all alone. I thought she was shy but soon discovered she had been waiting ever so patiently for someone to notice and play with her. For a little kitten she has a wisdom about her and adoringly gives you her full attention (which as many cat owners can attest is a bit unusual!) She loving looks after a smaller kitten who she is sharing a cage with and would love to be adopted with a kitten or young cat to play with.

MERLIN HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!

MERLIN is a big, beautiful, declawed black cat who loves cheek scratches and will roll over for belly rubs. He is very nervous at the shelter and is hesitant to want to come out and explore, but as soon as you offer him your hand, he’s nuzzling your fingers and you may even get a kiss or two! Merlin is a quiet kitty who needs a home where he can stay safe indoors.

Merlin will be coming home with me next and I'm sure with some quality TLC he will gain confidence and some out of his shell, though I think he will always be a quieter, more mellow cat. I'll let you know when he moves and and give you more information about his personality when I know him more!

CLEO HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!

Cleo is going to be my next (& 5th) foster! She's a petite, one-year-old cat who has lots of energy! I spent some time with her today and she was really sweet! She loves to give nose nuzzles and melts when you scratch her between her shoulder blades!

I'll tell you all about her when I get her home and get to know more about her myself!

New Foster Pumpkin

PUMPKIN HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!

Pumpkin will be my 5th full time foster and he'll be coming home with me later this weekend! He's a great boy and has been pretty laid back with me. He's a chatty little thing who chirps when he's excited and he gave me absolutely no problems at all when I trimmed his nails. He doesn't know me well at all, but he completely trusted me.

I've spent some time playing with him in the past two days and he is really friendly and he loves affection. Cats open up so much and their personalities really shine once they've found a home, but my bet is that he's going to be a great lap cat!
